Creative Foundations taught by Lot 23 Artists

For Elementary Students* (3rd-5th Grade)

Mondays and Tuesdays
Times are posted below with each individual class.

The Explore program will empower your child to be creative, think critically, communicate, and collaborate with their peers through an exploration of a variety of art forms.

The Explore program is designed to get you learning and creating so that you are prepared for our Connect program in middle school and beyond.

About the classes:
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade courses that runs from August through April. Explore is a collaboration between CCE and Lot 23 Artists-In-Residence.


Creative Movements
Instructor: Cassie Francois
Mondays – 5:30-7:00pm
This unit utilizes the body to convey thoughts through movement. Over the unit students will impart thoughts to one another as they make basic development phrases, while figuring out how to securely move in close to home and general space.  Students will learn to express themselves through movement, patterns and shapes.

Creative Foundations (Visual Arts)
Instructor: Steve Brouse
Mondays – 6:00-7:30pm

Elementary foundation in understanding and skills in the visual arts in an exploratory and fun manner.


Instructor: Amy Hamel
Tuesdays – 5:30-7:00pm
An “act”-ive class offered to explore the elements and fundamentals of theatre and putting on a production. Costumes, props, backstage, and of course on-stage. We will “play” with improvisation to help open creativity to develop a character, learn the basic vocabulary of the theatre world, and scene and play study to understand the story a playwright is trying to convey and then perform it. Educational and FUN!!

Instructor: Joshua Lubben
Tuesdays – 5:30-7:00pm

Students will learn music appreciation through instrument exploration. They will explore mood, textures, and color through the use of string, keyboards, and percussion instruments.

Explore is FREE!
Due to a partnership with the Lot 23 Artist-In-Residence program the Explore classes are being offered FREE to the public.  Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
