Course Objectives for 2020-2021

The program will focus on three strands A Sense of Place, Designing PSAs, and Storytelling through Animation.

Global Vision through Digital Media
through which we broaden students’ larger understanding of the digital world so they can adapt to changing
technology with confidence.

The first strand, A Sense of Place, highlights local history that teaches students about their neighborhood and Palm Beach County. Project objectives focus on balanced research, interviews and film production. Students develop their interviewing and writing skills, learn to translate research findings into visual storytelling, and produce a short documentary film that captures an issue of local concern. Last year, our students submitted their film for review so they could experience authentic external feedback and a chance be showcased publicly.

The second strand, Designing PSAs, gives students another opportunity for real-world applications in the community. Our students are paired up with
local non-profits and challenged to develop digital PSAs that will market content and highlight the organization’s mission. Through this process, students strengthen their collaboration skills, apply their digital knowledge to visually synthesize and brand an organization’s assets in order to create a product that is both artistic and practical.

Each computer station is equipped with a 27″ iMac (5K, 16 GB) with an advanced video card, the complete Adobe Creative Suite, Toon Boom, Final Cut Pro, and more.  Additional hardware includes headphones and Wacom Intuos S tablet.
