C4 Media Arts & Technology Summer Courses

Middle School & High School Ages
8-Week Courses

How it works:
Pick one, two, or all five courses (each course is $150 OR $500 for all five courses).  Each course happens on its own day (detailed below) from 2pm to 4pm.  Currently enrolled C4 students may choose one of the five courses for free as part of their annual tuition.

Mondays | 2:00pm – 4:00pm
Making A Documentary | ‘Florida: Where I’m From
Instructors: Dwayne Taylor (Center for Creative Education) & Susan Wemette (Blue Planet Writers’ Room)
– This course will allow students to produce a short documentary film around the theme of ‘Florida: Where I Am.’  The course will allow students to have a voice about how they live  their lives as local Floridians.  Students will collect still and video footage to be edited and compiled into what will ultimately be a short documentary film with a ‘Premiere Event’ that will welcome the public, friends, and family.  This course includes a special collaboration with Blue Planet Writers’ Room providing a team-teaching environment, welcoming a visiting FAU professor to assist with the documentary framework, and a reflective panel discussion with Q&A at the premiere event.

$500.00 for all 5 courses (a $250.00 savings!) | Also included for ‘new students’ is complimentary registration for Fall C4, After-School programming.

Instructor Information:

Dwayne Taylor developed and managed the Digital Literacy program at the West Palm Beach Youth Empowerment Center that helped reduce youth crime in the Northwood area by 25%. Dwayne also owns Taylor Productions and is the CEO of 3Tentertainment which keeps him updated on the fast moving technological advances and industry trends.  He holds a BFA in Film and Television from the University of Southern California (USC).

Erick Marquez is a published comic book artist, sculptor, and muralist with a style that’s bold and unique.  He is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute. His professional experience began with an internship at Warner Bros./DC Comics in New York City and has created for a wide array of clients ranging from AT&T/Verizon to Conan O’Brien’s comic book biography. Aside from being a full time freelance artist, Erick teaches visual art and music, locally, in workshops and studios.
