Making A Documentary | ‘Florida: Where I’m From
Instructors: Dwayne Taylor (Center for Creative Education) & Susan Wemette (Blue Planet Writers’ Room)
– This course will allow students to produce a short documentary film around the theme of ‘Florida: Where I Am.’  The course will allow students to have a voice about how they live  their lives as local Floridians.  Students will collect still and video footage to be edited and compiled into what will ultimately be a short documentary film with a ‘Premiere Event’ that will welcome the public, friends, and family.  This course includes a special collaboration with Blue Planet Writers’ Room providing a team-teaching environment, welcoming a visiting FAU professor to assist with the documentary framework, and a reflective panel discussion with Q&A at the premiere event.

Character Animation
Instructor: Erick Marquez
This class focuses on the basics of digital marketing, graphic design, and photo editing.  Students will be taught the necessary tools in the digital realm, through project -based assignments.

Additionally, these basics help to prepare those that are interested in applying to art schools, such as BAK Middle School, and Dreyfoos.

Web Design / HTML / Coding
Instructor: Dwayne Taylor
The goal of our Web Developer Program is to prepare our students for entry level work as a Jr. Web Developer.  Students will learn to understand coding logic using PHP and JavaScript, web design using HTML, CSS, Rapidweaver, and relational databases using SQL.
Coding is an essential skill. Coding is the language of technology which teaches you how to solve problems and work together in creative ways.  Students will engage in interactive, hands-on explorations of coding concepts such as commands, sequences, loops, events, and algorithms.  Skill building will also include visual-based coding apps, solving puzzles, and designing their own creations.  Optional design activities will guide students through a process to conceptualize and prototype an app idea that solves a problem in their class or school.

Photoshop & Photography
Instructor: Erick Marquez
This course will allow students to use Photoshop professionally. In this course we will teach you everything you need to know about getting started with Photoshop. You’ll learn how to use Photoshop for use in Graphic Design & for Photoshop Retouching. You will create your own projects that can be added to your own portfolio.
This course is for beginners. You do not need any previous knowledge of Photoshop, photography or design. We will start right at the beginning and work our way through step by step. 

Music Production / Beat Making
Instructor: Dwayne Taylor
Music Production prepares aspiring audio enthusiasts and music makers for careers in the music industry as hip hop producers by learning the same tools, concepts, equipment, and techniques the pros use. Through one-on-one, hands-on lessons, we teach you the principles of the hip hop genre along with beat making, arranging and sampling.

This program is created for students interested in Hip Hop, EDM, IDM, live DJ or any other electronic music creation within an array of genres. Arguably the most popular form of music today, hip hop production is one of the most expressive and dynamic musical careers of the 21st Century. Today, its influence can be heard across the spectrum of popular music, from indie to country.

To be successful on the business side of the music industry, you have navigate your way through the complex legalities, contracts and agreements that make up the business side of the music industry.  We give you the knowledge, experience, and understanding to execute contracts, licensing and management agreements, sync deals and live performance agreements.

Instructor Information:

Dwayne Taylor developed and managed the Digital Literacy program at the West Palm Beach Youth Empowerment Center that helped reduce youth crime in the Northwood area by 25%. Dwayne also owns Taylor Productions and is the CEO of 3Tentertainment which keeps him updated on the fast moving technological advances and industry trends.  He holds a BFA in Film and Television from the University of Southern California (USC).

Erick Marquez is a published comic book artist, sculptor, and muralist with a style that’s bold and unique.  He is a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute. His professional experience began with an internship at Warner Bros./DC Comics in New York City and has created for a wide array of clients ranging from AT&T/Verizon to Conan O’Brien’s comic book biography. Aside from being a full time freelance artist, Erick teaches visual art and music, locally, in workshops and studios.
