The Beautiful Art of Mexico

In this arts-based and literacy-themed unit students will learn various artistic skills and techniques through the exploration of folktales, legends, and traditions from Mexico and surrounding regions. Students will analyze tradition-rich stories and discuss the lessons, or morals, found within, and determine how these lessons might connect to their own lives and those around them, adding a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) component to this instructional unit. They will construct various pieces of art using basic art materials such as Molas, Mexican Suns, Maracas, Folk Art Illustrations and Amate Bark Drawings.
