Transforming Learning: We Focus On Digital Technology

Digital technology is critical to a high-quality education. We learned that quickly at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic when students of all ages began learning remotely. Suddenly, access to digital devices and high-quality online services, as well as understanding how to use those devices and services, became central to the learning experience. 

Digital literacy is one element of using technology in the classroom. Cornell University defines digital literacy as “the ability to find, evaluate, utilize, share, and create content using information technologies and the internet.” Teaching students how to navigate the digital world helps combat misinformation, cyberbullying, and more. 

At CCE, we use digital technology as a tool to advance the learning experience. Our current facility has a state-of-the-art Mac Lab, the Split Rock Recording Studio, and the Conrad N. Hilton Theater, complete with an LED screen. With these tools, we can teach digital arts like filmmaking, production, and animation while also enhancing other artistic experiences such as music and stage performance. 

We’re also introducing our young students to robotic technology. Students at The Foundations School will soon have access to Ozobot, where they can code with markers and paper, or they can program code through their IPads. They will also have access to Metabot, a virtual robot; KIBO Robotics, which allows robots to be controlled with blocks of code on building blocks; and Sphero. 

In June 2022, we’re moving to a new campus at 2400 Metrocentre Boulevard in West Palm Beach. At this new location, we’ll be expanding our use of digital technology even more. In addition to a new Mac Lab, recording studio, and theater, we will have Makerspaces equipped with tools to teach students about coding, robotics, and more. 

At CCE, we understand the value of digital technology. We want to ensure that every child has access to the best tools as they prepare for the future.
