Susan and Dom Telesco Host Cocktail Party For CCE
Last week, Susan and Dom Telesco hosted a cocktail party at their home in Palm Beach to honor CCE and celebrate our accomplishments and goals for the future. The party was attended by over 90 members of the Palm Beach community, who heard from CCE President and CEO Bob Hamon and CCE’s Chairman of the Board, James Meany.
“Dom and Susan, I am not sure where to start except to say thank you for believing in our vision,” Hamon said, addressing the evening’s hosts. The Telescos recently invested $2 million in our capital campaign, which seeks to raise $20 million for a new campus in West Palm Beach. The Susan and Dom Telesco Arts and Science Center, which is slated to open in 2023, will offer a dedicated space for students to create and learn, and for the community to gather for meetings, performances, exhibitions, and more.
Hamon went on to thank the other major donors to our campaign, including Irene and Jim Karp, who serve as our campaign chairs, Betsy and James Meany, Susan and Dan Catalfumo, and Blue Sea Capital. Thanks to their generosity, we are halfway to reaching our financial goals, with $10 million raised.
In his remarks, Hamon highlighted the success that CCE’s latest educational endeavor, The Foundations School, is having in its first year. In August 2021, 27% of our students were reading on or above grade level. But as of February 2022, 64% of the students who started with us in August are reading on or above grade level. That’s an improvement of 37% in roughly six months!
“Our goal with The Foundations School is not only to see the problem but to begin to form solutions to the problem,” Hamon said. “I invite each of you to learn more about our model and… see how we have created an environment where all students can be successful.”
